This six days safari itinerary, takes you on a journey throguh Tanzania unrevealed wildlife destination. Mikumi and the Selous game reserve to deliver a dramatic and diverse big game safari. Begin with the majestic Selous and explore least visited wildlife area for upclose encounter with the Big Five and dramatic landscape, from the miandering Rufiji river to the diverse Miombo Woodland before moving to Mikumi and explore the Mukata plain for great sighting of buffalloes and giraffe.
Morning at 0700hrs pickup from your hotel in Dar es Salaam and drive to Selous Game Reserve. You will have picnic lunch on the way and the journey will take about 5hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania. In the afternoon embark on boat safari, where you’ll admire hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat. Dinner at African Selous Camp.
Breakfast in your accommodation followed by full day game drives in the reserve. Selous is a home to large population of elephant, big number of buffalo and wild dog. Other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, Kudus and Crocodile. Dinner and overnight African Selous Camp.
After breakfast, walking safaris, the most exciting experience, unique in Tanzania, accompanied by rangers armed for about 2hrs and then back to the camp for brunch, before depart and drive to Mikumi National Park for Dinner and overnight at Mikumi Wildlife Camp.
Today we enjoy a game drive to the secluded heart of Mikumi National Park. With 3,230 square kilometers coverage Mikumi National Park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large number), leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal. More than 400 species of birds have been recorded here including Eurasian migrants such as red billed ox pecker, marabou stork and lilac breasted roller, which stays between October and April.
The surrounding mountain and hills brings compelling natural beauty with addition to superb light, make it a wonderful venue for wildlife photographers. It is common to see elephants, lions and sometimes giraffes on/ along the Tanzania-Zambia highway, especially in the evening or night. Nowadays leopards are commonly seen.
We awaken to the sounds of Africa and begin our day with an early morning game drive in Mikumi then return to the camp for an English breakfast. Mikumi’s vegetation includes woodland, swamp and grassland with two water holes, Mkata and Chamgore. Back to the camp for lunch. Afternoon drive back to Dar es Salaam, drop off Airport for your departure flight. End of Service!
